April and May so far have been very busy months. I need to remind myself next year in March to prepare myself for the onslaught. My husband and I started off April with a visit to Jamaica on a work trip that I won. I was especially poignant as we had honeymooned in Jamaica 20 years ago. We returned to weekends filled with Easter, birthdays, and other obligations. Throughout, I continued doing final revisions to my manuscript and finally finished a few days before April ended. What a feeling of completion. I have finally gotten the manuscript the furthest I can get it on my own.

Early one Saturday in May, I opened my email to see an email with this subject line: ACFW Genesis 2025 Historical Semi-Finalist – Congratulations! WHAT? I entered at the beginning of March, wanting additional feedback on all the changes I’d made. What an honor. Extra sweet is that my friend Donna Jo Stone’s book Where the Wildflower’s Bloom is a finalist for a Carol Award. Our little Tuesday virtual writing group is blooming, thanks to the guidance of J.L Burrows and the CHARIS community.

The rest of May, I have been busy working on a true book proposal and polishing my pitch. I plan to attend ACFW in September and am looking forward to the many connections I know I’ll make. This summer I plan to finish reading all my comps, and start working on book #2. I love writing and am so excited about this next project the Lord has laid on my heart.
